My Story

Hi, I’m Lisa!

I’m a dedicated, registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach based in Wimborne, Dorset. My passion for nutrition and holistic healing stems from personal experiences that demonstrated to me just how much food and lifestyle choices can impact our health and well-being.

Sudden-onset skin issues

A year after the birth of my first daughter, I suddenly found myself waking up in the mornings with swollen eyelids and an eczematous rash on my face. Frustrated by the lack of explanation—or even real interest—from my GP,  I looked into the potential causes of my symptoms and began removing foods that were possibly triggering my immune system and prioritising both the quality and quantity of my sleep (something I've never been particularly good at, to the point that those close to me joke that I'm fitted with Duracell batteries!).  Within just three weeks of making these changes, my skin had completely cleared.  This ignited an intense curiosity about the connection between what we eat, how we live, and the impact on our overall health and wellbeing.  From that point, I paid greater attention to how different foods affected my body and adapted my diet accordingly.

Recurrent Miscarriage

Fast forward another year and I suffered my first miscarriage – don't get me wrong, it was hard, but as a fairly pragmatic person, and knowing that miscarriage is common, I felt confident that all would be well next time.  However, the 18 months that followed saw recurrent miscarriages, the associated grief and the frustration of knowing that my body had successfully done it once.  What had changed in the short space of two years?  I needed answers, but medical tests revealed no explanation.

Once again, I began my own research.  Hormone imbalance came up time and time again and among  the possible causes of that…..STRESS!

So, for three months, I focused on supporting my nervous system through mindful lifestyle changes, including re-prioritising sleep and supplementing my diet appropriately to aid recovery from chronic stress and poor sleep.  Just over a year later, after a delightfully uneventful pregnancy, we welcomed our second daughter, Natalie, into the world.  I didn't need any more convincing about the power of diet and lifestyle for how we feel, how we heal, and our overall health outcomes- focusing on the right choices had corrected imbalances within my body, enabling it to do the incredible job of growing a new life once again.

Mum's Breast Cancer Journey

So, in 2013, when my mum was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, Mum and I launched our own attack to run concurrently with medical intervention.

Still not having studied Nutritional Therapy formally at that point, I immersed myself in research from reputable sources. I quickly learned that a nutrient-rich diet and a healthy lifestyle—full of so-called "superfoods"—could not only help her feel better during treatment but could also improve the way her body responded to it, and most importantly, reduce the chances of the cancer returning.  This was particularly important because there was a greater risk of this type of cancer returning than other forms of breast cancer.  I'm delighted to say that we are now 12 years on and Mum remains cancer-free!

Qualifications in Nutritional Therapy &

Health Coaching Qualifications

I completed my level 6 diploma in Nutritional Therapy with the College of Naturopathic Medicine, where I developed an evidence-based understanding of both the way in which nutrition and lifestyle influence every system in the body and how, due to the uniqueness of each and every one of us, they can affect us all so differently.

I am a full member of the ANP (Association of Naturpotahic Practitioners) and the GNC (General Naturpathic Council)

To further support my clients to make lasting changes, I have also completed a course in Health Coaching skills specifically for Nutritional Therapists with Zest4Life.
